Team Icer Brakes continues its winning streak at Motorland
The reigning champion of the Spanish GT Championship, Team Icer Brakes, achieved new triumphs in Alcañiz last weekend to defend its title claimed in 2014. The Dodge Viper GT Cup ran by Bólido Racing scored two wins and lies first in the standings when season reaches halfway point.
Team Icer Brakes has set ambitious goals for its 2015 season: to defend his title in the Spanish GT championship. The Spanish team, entering the same Dodge Viper GT Cup that the outfit had in last year´s campaign and endurance world record holder in the Maxi Endurance 32, already claimed his first win at Jarama, and then two second places and another fourth so far with the seasoned Jesús Díez Villarroel at the wheel of the American muscle car.
At Motorland Aragón there were some interesting novelties, such as a night heat on Saturday evening. After two free practice sessions in the morning, Spanish GT series qualifying took place shortly after 2:00 p.m., when temperature peaked at almost 40ºC. Team Icer Brakes, posting two lap times of 1:59.493 and 1:56.248, grabbed both pole positions. Race one, taking place on Saturday, was started with night falling on Motorland Aragón. Team Icer Brakes took lights-to-flag win and his closest rival finished more than 28 seconds behind. Identical result on Sunday in extreme heat, as the Dodge Viper GT Cup was out of the reach for the rest of the field.
The Spanish GT Championship resumes in Los Arcos, next September, after summer break.
